Our single vineyard, Provence style Mataro (or Mourvèdre) Rosé is being released just in step time with the festival season of Adelaide approaching, for all of the good times, Rosé all day! This wine has been sold out for around 8 months, so it is nice to have it back in stock, and also in our new, lighter footprint, packaging.
We especially like Mataro as a variety for Rosé, its thicker skins allow for later ripening of full flavour that also add some grip to the finish. This is our younger Mataro planting, planted in 1998, and it gets special attention, as it is the block right across the creek from Goodieson Brewery, so many people are keeping a close eye on it!
Aromas of rosehip, tangerine, bitters, pink pepper. Palate is of blood orange, watermelon, cranberry juice, tart and dry. There is a chalky dryness coming from the calcareous, limestone rich soils that personify the maritime influence of McLaren Vale with hints of sea spray and a crisp saline length. Juicy palate, but a little savoury as well with subtle bitterness and dried herbs. Delicious food friendly Rosé, try alongside Coorong Mulloway with citrus beurre blanc, Kestrel potatoes and green leaves. Click here to read the Mataro Rosé tasting notes and shop online.
