Well, it's that magical time of year again – Adelaide Fringe Festival. The biggest arts festival in the Southern Hemisphere is returning for its 61st edition and the weirdest, wackiest and most talented performers from across the country are descending on Adelaide for another month of mayhem.
Fringe Festival is, without a doubt, the best time of year to be in Adelaide and its surrounds. The festival brings together over 6000 independent artists across 300+ venues with every kind of experience imaginable on offer. Whether you're a fan of intimate music gigs, thought-provoking theatre or stand-up comedy that'll have you in stitches, you'll find it all at the Fringe and Hither & Yon is proud to be a host venue for the 2021 festival.
This year, we have Luke Marshall, from Port Lincoln, playing songs from his debut album 'It's A Place I Know' as well as his two earlier EPs. Best described as dreamy alternative folk, Luke's live performances are intimate, enchanting and vulnerable, earning him a 4-star review at 2019's Fringe Festival. He'll be playing Friday 26 Feb at 6pm, and Saturday 27 Feb at 7pm, so be sure to grab a ticket and come down to the cellar door for a relaxed evening.
We're also hosting Nick Parnell, who is celebrated as one of the most exciting vibraphone players in the world today. Yep, you read right – a vibraphone. It's a percussion instrument played with four mallets and it has to be seen to be believed (enjoy a preview here). Nick taught himself drums as a kid in his parents' shearing shed and has since received first place in the International Melbourne Percussion Competition, a Centenary of Federation Medal and the Dome Roma Mitchell Churchill Fellowship. He also happens to hold a PhD from the University of Adelaide, so best refer to him as Dr Nick. You can get a taste of his medicine on Saturday 20 Feb at 5.30pm, at the cellar door once again.
We're looking forward to hosting both these talented acts, as well as getting out and seeing a bunch of other shows. Links to Nick and Luke's shows/tickets can be found below, as can the full program. We'll see you then!
